The Les lavandières de la nuit or Kannerez noz medallion is inspired by the Breton legend of the white women. Washing their clothes in the light of the moon, they haunt fountains and demand help from late wanderers, at their own risk… The medallion is composed of a procession of washerwomen rising toward the moon in the shadow of two large willows, known for their connection with the world of spirits.

In popular Breton folklore, the spirits of the dead were closely linked to those of the living. This procession of souls, called Anaon, filled everyday life and roamed freely through fields, deserted paths, and houses. Its presence required rituals meant not to disturb their procession and to ensure their goodwill.
