The legend of Mona Kerbili tells the story of how Mona, a young girl from the land, was abducted by the Morgan people and taken to their palace at the bottom of the sea.

There, she married the king’s son, but feeling uprooted, she wept every day at the thought of her family left behind on solid ground.

Moved by her sorrow, Mona's husband granted her permission to visit her family. However, once back on land, Mona lost all memory of her life underwater.


One stormy night, Mona was awakened by the moaning of the sea, mingled with the sobs of her husband. At that moment, all her memories returned, and she threw herself into the waves. Since that time, Mona Kerbili has never been seen again...
